On 27 March 2025, the IAEA Office of Legal Affairs, in collaboration with NEA, hosted the first Women in Nuclear Law Initiative (WiNLI) webinar, “Nuclear Law 101“. Over 75 participants joined, with 70 attending the full session.
The webinar featured speakers Peri Lynne Johnson (IAEA), Kimberly S. Nick (NEA), and Lisa Thiele (CNSC), who offered insights on nuclear law fundamentals — from treaties and conventions to international cooperation and regulatory frameworks.
Aimed at the general public, this session kicks off WiNLI’s programme to offer online and in-person training in nuclear law, a field with limited formal education options but growing global importance.
